Family Compact Letter

This school-parent compact is in effect during the 2022-2023 school year.

Our school believes that students are more successful when families and school staff work together as partners.  Lewis & Clark and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I agree that this compact outlines how they will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards.

School/Teacher Responsibilities

●    Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards as follows:
○    We will communicate the school’s vision, mission, and goals.
○    We will maintain and foster high standards of academic achievement and behavior.
○    We will conduct at least one parent meeting to discuss our school-parent compact.

●    Address the importance of communication between teachers and parents on an ongoing basis through, at a minimum :
○    Holding two parent-teacher conferences during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement.
○    These conferences will be held on October 13th, 14th, and 18th, 2022 and on March 2nd, 3rd, and 7th, 2023.

●    Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress. Specifically, the school  will provide reports as follows:
○    We will provide the state standards for each grade level.
○    We will share each student’s progress in relation to these standards in the fall and spring.
○    We will provide trimester report cards to parents.
○    Specialists will provide progress reports to parents.
○    All parents will have access to PowerSchool attendance data daily.
○    Results from formal state and district assessments will be shared with parents in fall and spring.

●    Provide parents reasonable access to staff. Specifically, staff will be available for consultation with parents as follows:
○    We will provide a supportive environment in which families are welcome partners.
○    We will encourage parents to schedule an appointment to meet with teachers and/or administrators to share concerns, suggestions, or ask questions.

●    Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class and to observe classroom activities once COVID-19 health and safety protocols and procedures are lifted as follows:
○    We will encourage parents to volunteer for a variety of classroom and school events.
○    We will invite parents to participate in and observe classroom activities.
